List of G20 Countries with the Highest Military Spending: Where Does Indonesia Rank?

The United States (US) is the G20 member with the largest military expenditure. According to Trading Economics data, US military spending reached US$800.67 billion, or the equivalent of Rp12 quadrillion, in 2021.

The next largest G20 military spender is China, reaching US$293.35 billion last year. China's military spending is only about one-third of the US's.

The next largest G20 military spenders are India, with US$76.6 billion last year; followed by the United Kingdom with US$68.37 billion, Russia with US$65.91 billion, and France with US$56.65 billion.

Indonesia's military spending was US$8.26 billion, or Rp123.88 trillion in 2021. This places Indonesia's military spending third lowest among the 19 G20 members. Indonesia's military spending is only 1% of the US's.

Indonesia's military spending is only higher than that of Argentina and South Africa, which had military spending of US$3.88 billion and US$4.899 billion respectively.
