The realization of tax amnesty repatriation funds during August-December 2016 amounted to Rp 112.2 trillion. This figure is Rp 29 trillion less than the realization recorded in the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) tax amnesty statistics, which totaled Rp 141 trillion. A discrepancy exists between the committed amount and the amount received by the gateway banks receiving taxpayer repatriation deposits.
According to the Director of Dissemination, Services, and Public Relations of the Directorate General of Taxes, Hestu Yoga Saksama, the Rp 29 trillion difference in repatriation realization commitments can be attributed to two factors. First, differing treatments of funds entering Indonesia during the period of January 1-June 30, 2016. According to Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 150/2016, funds entering Indonesia during this period could be treated as either repatriation or domestic declarations. Second, taxpayers canceled their repatriation commitments due to difficulties in bringing their funds into Indonesia.
The tax amnesty policy successfully declared taxpayer assets totaling Rp 4,310 trillion. This figure comprises Rp 3,156 trillion in domestic asset declarations, Rp 1,013 trillion in foreign asset declarations, and Rp 141 trillion in repatriation.
