West Java Attracts the Largest Investment in Q2 2022

The Indonesian Investment Ministry or the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) reported that total realized investment in Indonesia reached Rp302.2 trillion (approximately US$20.4 billion based on July 14, 2022 exchange rate) during the second quarter of 2022. This figure represents a 7% quarterly growth and a 35% year-on-year growth.

West Java ranked first in realized investment during the second quarter of this year, having been in second place the previous quarter.

West Java recorded Rp44 trillion (approximately US$2.98 billion) in investment during Q2 2022. It was followed by DKI Jakarta with Rp40.1 trillion (approximately US$2.72 billion), Central Sulawesi with Rp32.1 trillion (approximately US$2.17 billion), East Java with Rp29.9 trillion (approximately US$2.03 billion), and Riau with Rp20.7 trillion (approximately US$1.40 billion).

In Q2 2022, total realized investment comprised Domestic Investment (PMDN) reaching Rp139 trillion (approximately US$9.40 billion), showing a 2.8% quarterly (qtq) growth and a 30.8% year-on-year (yoy) growth.

Meanwhile, Foreign Investment (PMA) realization amounted to Rp163.2 trillion (approximately US$11.05 billion) during the same period, exhibiting a 10.8% quarterly (qtq) growth and a 39.7% year-on-year (yoy) growth.

Considering PMA alone, Central Sulawesi still held the top position with US$2.2 billion in realized investment. Meanwhile, DKI Jakarta ranked first in PMDN realization with Rp27.5 trillion (approximately US$1.86 billion).
