East Java was the largest recipient of excise duty revenue sharing (DBH) in 2020. Based on data from the Ministry of Finance, the excise DBH transferred to the province reached Rp 1.66 trillion, or 53.24% of the total Rp 3.12 trillion.
For information, East Java was the largest tobacco-producing province last year. Several large cigarette manufacturing companies, such as HM Sampoerna, Gudang Garam, and Bentoel, are located in East Java.
The next largest recipient of excise DBH was Central Java, with a value of Rp 677.41 billion (21.68%). Central Java is recorded as the second largest tobacco producer nationally. Large cigarette factories, such as Djarum and Nojorono, are also located in this province.
West Java ranked third with excise DBH receipts of Rp 372.73 billion (11.93%). Nusa Tenggara received Rp 323.41 billion (10.35%) in excise DBH.
Then, North Sumatra received Rp 15.16 billion (0.49%) in excise DBH. South Sulawesi and Yogyakarta each received Rp 13.7 billion (0.44%) and Rp 11.97 billion (0.38%) respectively.
Furthermore, Bali received Rp 8.45 billion (0.27%) in excise DBH. Meanwhile, Lampung received Rp 6 billion (0.19%) in excise DBH.
The total transfer of excise DBH to these 10 provinces amounted to Rp 3.11 trillion. This proportion is equivalent to 99.54% of the total excise DBH last year.
Government revenue from excise duties was recorded at Rp 185.9 trillion in 2020. This figure increased by 2.7% from the previous year's Rp 181.01 trillion.
The largest excise revenue came from tobacco products, reaching Rp 179.83 trillion or 96.7%. Excise revenue from alcoholic beverages amounted to Rp 5.76 trillion.
Furthermore, excise revenue from ethyl alcohol amounted to Rp 241.79 billion. Excise revenue from administrative fines reached Rp 52.49 billion. Meanwhile, other excise revenue was only Rp 12.11 billion.
