Gayo Lues Regency's 2023 Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices reached Rp3,336.16 billion. This represents a 3.98% growth compared to the previous year's Rp3,076.5 billion.
Compared to the COVID-19 pandemic year of 2020, the region's economic growth is significantly higher. Post-COVID growth at the end of 2020 was recorded at only 0.88%.
According to BPS (Statistics Indonesia) publications, with a total population of 102,890, the GRDP per capita in the region is recorded at Rp31,810,000/capita/year. Nationally, this ranks 384th.
Of the 17 sectors driving the regency's economy, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries are the leading sectors.
Agriculture, forestry, and fisheries in Gayo Lues Regency are the mainstay sectors, contributing the largest share to the 2023 GRDP with a value of Rp1.37 trillion. This represents a 3.1% growth compared to the previous year's Rp1.26 trillion.
Following this, the administration, defense, and mandatory social security sector grew by 6.86% to Rp366.01 billion, while the wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector, now in third place, grew by 9.39% to Rp363.59 billion.
The final sector in the top five is construction, with a GRDP of Rp310.07 billion. This sector recorded a 3.77% growth compared to the previous year's Rp289.8 billion.

In terms of distribution, the main sector contributing the most to GRDP growth in Gayo Lues Regency is agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, with a contribution of 39.5%. Other sectors in the top five include wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, manufacturing, administration, defense and mandatory social security, and construction.
The sectors with the smallest distribution are Financial and Insurance Services, Other Service Sectors, Corporate Services, Electricity and Gas Supply, and Water Supply, Waste Management, Waste and Recycling.
