Using this scoring system, Indonesia received a cumulative score of 70.6 in 2023, an improvement from the previous year's score of 64.4.

However, compared to neighboring countries, Indonesia still lags significantly, ranking 8th out of 11 ASEAN countries.

Laos achieved the highest score among ASEAN countries, while Malaysia achieved the lowest, as shown in the graph.

"When a country's laws restrict women, fail to protect them from violence, or discriminate against them in the workplace, women tend not to participate fully in the economy," the World Bank stated in its report.

"The economy will become more dynamic, strong, and resilient when all citizens, both men and women, can contribute equally," it continued.
