The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) released data showing that in October 2018, inflation reached 0.28% compared to the previous month. This inflation was indicated, among other things, by an increase in the index of the processed food, beverages, tobacco and cigarettes expenditure group by 0.27%; the clothing group by 0.54%; and the transportation, communication, and financial services group by 0.26%.
The calendar year inflation rate (January-October) 2018 was 2.22%, and the year-on-year (YoY) inflation rate (October 2018 compared to October 2017) was 3.16%. Meanwhile, the core component in October 2018 experienced inflation of 0.29% compared to the previous month. Similarly, cumulatively from January to October, inflation reached 2.67%, and the annual inflation reached 2.94%.

Inflation in October 2018 was the highest compared to October 2017 (0.01%) and October 2016 (0.14%). Meanwhile, calendar year inflation for the January-October 2018 period was lower than the same period in 2017 but higher than the same period in 2016. The year-on-year (YoY) inflation for October 2018 was lower than October 2017 (3.58%) and October 2016 (3.31%).
