Indonesian Central Government Debt Reaches Rp9.1 Quadrillion in Q1 2025

Based on data from the Indonesian Public Sector Debt Statistics (SUSPI) of the Directorate General of Financing and Risk Management (DJPPR), Ministry of Finance, the total gross central government debt reached Rp9.1 quadrillion in the first quarter of 2025.

The debt increased by Rp294.77 trillion, or 3.34%, compared to the end of 2024.

In the first quarter of 2025, Indonesian central government debt by type consisted of:

• Debt securities: Rp7.97 quadrillion
• Loans: Rp1.14 quadrillion

Then, by currency type, government debt consisted of:

• Local currency: Rp6.46 quadrillion (70.97%)
• Foreign currency: Rp2.64 quadrillion (29.03%)

Based on the residence of the debt holder/lender, the debt consisted of:

• Domestic debt securities/loans: Rp5.68 quadrillion (62.37%)
• Foreign debt securities/loans: Rp3.43 quadrillion (37.63%)

While by maturity, government debt consisted of:

• Short-term debt: Rp78.88 trillion (0.87%)
• Long-term debt: Rp9.03 quadrillion (99.13%)

All of this debt is held by the Indonesian central government, consisting of debt instruments sourced from bilateral/multilateral creditor loans, commercial debt, credit suppliers, and domestic loans.

This debt also includes State Debt Securities (SBN) issued domestically and internationally, held by residents and non-residents, but does not include other debts.
