The Gender Equality Program Budget is Only Rp69 Billion in 2026

Referring to the Financial Note of the 2026 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget Draft (RAPBN), the gender equality, women and child protection program has been allocated Rp69.1 billion.

Although relatively small compared to other programs, this allocation has surged by 419.54% year-on-year (yoy) from the 2025 outlook, which only allocated Rp13.3 billion.

This program is channeled through the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KemenPPPA).

"Gender equality development is aimed at reducing the disparity in development achievements between men and women, eliminating all forms of discrimination and violence against women," the government wrote in the 2026 RAPBN.

Policies to improve gender equality are focused on:

1. Increasing access to health and education services.

2. Strengthening capacity and independence, as well as increasing women's leadership in decision-making.

3. Increasing women's active participation in the economy and employment.

4. Fulfilling and protecting women's rights to be free from violence.

5. Strengthening governance and institutionalization of gender mainstreaming (PUG) in the development process.

The budget in this item has historically fluctuated, as shown in the attached graph. The highest record was achieved in 2024 with Rp127.7 billion, while the lowest was in 2025.
