The Indonesian government has allocated Rp757.8 trillion (approximately US$49 billion based on current exchange rates, but this is subject to fluctuation) for education in the 2026 State Budget (RAPBN). This represents a 9.8% increase from the Rp690.1 trillion outlook for 2025.
“The government is committed to allocating 20% of the total budget to education, approximately Rp757.8 trillion in 2026, the largest in our history,” said President Prabowo Subianto during the presentation of the 2026 Financial Note and RAPBN on Friday, August 15, 2025.
Rp178.7 trillion of this budget will be allocated to teacher and lecturer welfare. Programs such as Indonesia Pintar, KIP Kuliah (an Indonesian scholarship program), and improvements to educational facilities will receive approximately Rp150.1 trillion.

- 2026 (RAPBN): Rp757.8 trillion
The government's priority programs in the education sector include:
1. Increasing equitable access to education through the Indonesia Pintar Program (PIP) and the Kartu Indonesia Pintar (KIP) Kuliah program.
2. Development of integrated high-quality high schools (Sekolah Unggul Garuda) and community schools.
3. Accelerated revitalization of schools and madrasas, and provision of supporting infrastructure and facilities.
4. Improving the quality of learning through the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program.
5. Strengthening vocational education with the job market, through strengthening teaching industry and the Center of Excellence Vocational High Schools (SMK Pusat Keunggulan).
6. Promoting the strengthening of Early Childhood Education (PAUD).
7. Gradual, selective, and affirmative fulfillment of basic education rights.
