Sintang Regency Food Price Index Up 28% Since 2018

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded a food price index of 128.65 in Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan, in May 2022. This means that food prices in this regency have increased by 28.65% (128.65-100) from the beginning of the index calculation (2018=100).

The food price index in Sintang Regency was the highest compared to 89 other regencies/cities surveyed by BPS.

Meanwhile, the national consumer price index (90 cities) was at 115.67 in May 2022. This means that Indonesian food prices experienced inflation of 15.67% (115.67-100) from the beginning of the index calculation in 2018=100.

The food price index in Baubau City, Southeast Sulawesi, was at 105.71 until May 2022. Thus, food prices in this city increased by only 5.71% (105.71-100) from the beginning of the index calculation.

Compared to December 2021, the food price index in Sintang Regency increased by 8.89% (year to date/ytd). Food prices in Baubau City increased by only 3.19% (ytd), and national food prices increased by 4.84% (ytd).

Compared to May 2021, the food price index in Sintang Regency increased by 16.32% (year on year/yoy). Similarly, the food price index in Baubau City increased by 4.1% (yoy), and the national food price index increased by 5.82% (yoy).
