Indonesian National Police Proposes Rp63.7 Trillion Budget Increase for 2026: Details Inside

The Indonesian National Police (Polri) proposed an additional budget of Rp63.7 trillion for 2026 during a working meeting with Commission III of the DPR (House of Representatives) on Monday, July 7, 2025.

The additional budget was proposed due to an increase in total needs for the following year, from Rp109.67 trillion to Rp173.47 trillion.

The proposed 2026 budget allocation increased by Rp46.8 trillion or 37% compared to the 2025 Polri APBN (State Budget) allocation of Rp126.62 trillion.

Based on the details of its use, from the Rp109.67 trillion allocation, Rp15.75 trillion was allocated for capital expenditure, such as procuring fast patrol boats for border regions, providing supporting equipment for narcotics and cybercrime cases, and constructing official residences.

However, this approved budget is 74.12% lower, or approximately Rp45.1 trillion, compared to the Polri's proposed budget requirement of Rp60.8 trillion for 2026.

Furthermore, Rp33.76 trillion was allocated for operational expenditure, such as covering telephone, electricity, water, gas, fuel, and the development of the Central Papua Regional Police.

This budget is 29.11% lower, or approximately Rp13.8 trillion, compared to the Polri's proposed requirement of Rp47.6 trillion.

Then, Rp60.16 trillion was allocated for personnel expenditure, such as salary increases for newly recruited Polri personnel and performance allowances.

"This figure is 7.43% lower (or) by Rp4.8 trillion compared to the Polri's proposed budget (2026) of Rp64.9 trillion," said the Assistant to the Chief of Police for General Planning and Budget, Commissioner General Wahyu Hadiningrat, during the meeting.

Thus, the total shortfall in the proposed 2026 budget for Polri's capital expenditure, operational expenditure, and personnel expenditure is approximately Rp63.7 trillion. During the working meeting, Commission III of the DPR stated that they would continue to fight for this additional budget.
