Indonesia's Healthcare Spending in Semester I 2025 is Only 36% of Total State Budget

According to a report by the Indonesian Ministry of Finance, the realization of Indonesia's government health budget in the first half of 2025 reached Rp78.6 trillion.

"The health budget in the first semester was realized at 36% (of the state budget ceiling) or Rp78.6 trillion," said Finance Minister Sri Mulyani in a working meeting with the House of Representatives on Tuesday (1/7/2025).

The largest portion of this semester's health budget was allocated to recipients of National Health Insurance contributions (PBI JKN), amounting to Rp23.2 trillion, targeting 96.8 million participants.

Next, the realization of General Allocation Funds (DAU) for health services amounted to Rp13.4 trillion.

This was followed by Operational Health Assistance (BOK) for 10,161 community health centers (puskesmas) worth Rp5.2 trillion, and the revitalization of 22 hospitals worth Rp1.9 trillion.

Furthermore, there was spending on vaccines and immunization of Rp1.1 trillion, and Special Allocation Funds (DAK) for the physical development of community health centers and family planning centers (KB) worth Rp700 billion.

The Ministry of Health's flagship program, free health check-ups, consumed Rp140.1 billion. This program has been participated in by 10.5 million people.

"We see that the number of participants is increasing every month. This is expected to detect the health conditions of the community earlier," said Sri Mulyani.

Finally, there was spending on supplementary food, drug testing, and the development of the first 1,000 days of a child's life worth Rp15.6 billion.
