Climate Technology Investments Prioritized by Global Business Leaders in 2025

According to a Capgemini Research Institute survey in November 2024, global corporate leaders are prioritizing climate technology investments in 2025.

The majority chose investment in battery technology, with 55% of respondents. Solar energy, hydrogen, hydropower and wind energy are among the top 5 areas prioritized by these corporate bosses.

Here are the full results of the 2025 climate tech investment survey prioritized by director-level and above business leaders from global companies:

• Battery technology: 55%
• Solar energy: 47%
• Hydrogen: 36%
• Hydropower: 36%
• Wind energy: 35%
• Nuclear energy: 33%
• Biofuels: 20%
• Geothermal energy: 19%
• Carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS): 18%

The results, says the Capgemini Research Institute, suggest climate technologies will receive the lion's share of increased sustainable investment by 2025.

This is in line with 67% of executives who believe their companies will not achieve sustainability goals without climate technologies.

“Our current research reveals that 72% of business leaders say they will increase investment in climate technologies, including hydrogen, renewables, nuclear, batteries and carbon capture, by 2025,” Capgemini Research Institute wrote in its report.

The survey was conducted in November 2024, involving 2,500 business leaders from 2,500 companies in 9 sectors spread across 17 countries in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

Of the total respondents, 70% were from companies with annual revenues of more than US$1 billion and 30% from mid-sized companies with annual revenues of US$100 million-US$1 billion.
