Eight days before Eid al-Fitr, the prices of several food commodities began to rise. Based on data from the National Center for Strategic Food Price Information (PIHPS), the food commodities experiencing price increases are rice, chicken, beef, red chilies, and chili peppers. Meanwhile, only four food commodities saw price decreases.
Compared to prices on Monday (May 27th), the highest increase occurred in red chilies at Rp 1,350 per kg, followed by beef at Rp 350 per kg. Further increases were seen in chicken and chili peppers at Rp 150 per kg, and rice at Rp 50 per kg.
Price decreases occurred in granulated sugar at Rp 50 per kg, cooking oil at Rp 100 per liter, chicken eggs at Rp 450 per kg, and garlic at Rp 500 per kg. Shallots were the only food commodity with a stable price at Rp 35,150 per kg.
