The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that Indonesia experienced annual inflation of 1.95% (year-on-year/yoy) in April 2025.
This figure represents the highest inflation rate since January 2025, as shown in the graph.
BPS stated that inflation occurred due to price increases in most expenditure groups.
The following is a list of expenditure groups that experienced inflation or annual price increases in April 2025, sorted from highest to lowest inflation:
* Personal care and other services: 9.93% (yoy)
* Food, beverages, and tobacco: 2.17% (yoy)
* Food and beverage services/restaurants: 2.14% (yoy)
* Education: 1.88% (yoy)
* Health: 1.83% (yoy)
* Housing, water, electricity, and household fuel: 1.60% (yoy)
* Recreation, sports, and culture: 1.25% (yoy)
* Clothing and footwear: 0.91% (yoy)
* Household equipment, tools, and routine maintenance: 0.88% (yoy)
On the other hand, only two expenditure groups experienced deflation or annual price decreases in April 2025: the information, communication, and financial services group, which decreased by 0.64% (yoy); and transportation, which decreased by 0.11% (yoy).
Commodities contributing to annual inflation or price increases in April 2025 include cayenne pepper, red chili peppers, shallots, garlic, fresh fish, coconut, instant coffee, cooking oil, hand-rolled kretek cigarettes (SKT), machine-rolled kretek cigarettes (SKM), and machine-rolled white cigarettes (SPM).
This period's inflation was also influenced by increased prices for house rent, PAM water tariffs, domestic helper wages, cars, motorcycles, school fees, rice with side dishes, and gold jewelry.
Commodities contributing to annual deflation or price decreases in April 2025 include rice, broiler chicken, chicken eggs, tomatoes, scallions, long beans, sweet corn, live chicken, infant formula, and liquid/dish soap.
Annual deflation also occurred in airfare, gasoline prices, intercity transportation fares, train fares, mobile phone pulse rates, and cell phone services.
In April 2025, all provinces experienced annual inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Papua Pegunungan at 5.96% (yoy), while West Papua had the lowest at 0.15% (yoy).
