There are 321 Election Dispute Cases in the 2024 Elections; Here's a Breakdown

According to a report by the Association for Elections and Democracy (Perludem), as of 4:00 PM WIB on Friday, December 20, 2024, 321 petitions regarding Regional Head Election Dispute Cases (PHP Kada) 2024 have been submitted to the Constitutional Court (MK).

Perludem researcher Ajid Fuad Muzaki believes this high number of petitions reflects significant public attention to the democratic process.

“The high number of petitions also indicates problems in the organization of the 2024 Regional Head Elections, in terms of implementation, administration, and supervision,” said Ajid in a discussion titled *Early Portrait of 2024 PHP-Kada* on his YouTube channel on Sunday, December 23, 2024.

Broken down by type, most of the 2024 Regional Head Election petitions stem from regency head election disputes, totaling 241 cases or 77.2% of the total petitions.

Next are mayoral election disputes with 49 cases (15.7%) and gubernatorial election disputes with 22 cases (7.1%).

Perludem notes that out of Indonesia's 38 provinces, two—Yogyakarta and Bali—did not submit any PHP Kada petitions.

Meanwhile, the provinces with the highest number of 2024 Regional Head Election dispute petitions are Central Papua and North Maluku, with 20 and 19 cases respectively.
