Banjar Baru City's 2023 current price Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) reached Rp13.33 trillion. This represents a 6.81% increase compared to the previous year's Rp11.79 trillion.
Compared to the COVID-19 pandemic year of 2020, the region's economic growth is significantly higher. At the end of 2020, post-COVID, growth recorded a decrease of 1.83%.
According to BPS (Statistics Indonesia) publications, with a total population of 270,350, the GRDP per capita in this region is recorded at Rp49,710,000/capita/year. Nationally, this ranks 231st.
Of the 17 sectors driving the region's economic growth, the transportation and warehousing sector is the leading contributor.
Ranking first, the transportation and warehousing sector contributed the largest GRDP in 2023, reaching Rp3.96 trillion, showing a growth of 17.51%. The construction sector followed, growing by 4.22% to Rp1.76 trillion. Third was the wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector, which grew by 5.42% to Rp1.44 trillion.
Rounding out the top five is the education services sector with a GRDP of Rp1.11 trillion, showing a growth of 2.61% compared to the previous year's Rp1.08 trillion.

In terms of distribution, the transportation and warehousing sector contributed the most to GRDP growth in Banjar Baru City, accounting for 22.41%. Other top five sectors include construction, wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, government administration, defense and mandatory social security, and education services.
The sectors with the smallest distribution are Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries; Financial and Insurance Services; Water Supply, Waste Management, Waste and Recycling; Company Services; and Electricity and Gas Supply.
