According to a Bank Indonesia (BI) survey, the overall financial condition of Indonesian companies improved in the first quarter of 2022.

BI noted that corporate liquidity in Q1 2022 increased, reflected in a Net Balance (NB) of liquidity of 17.28%. This is higher than the NB in Q4 2021, which stood at 15.74%.

"This was mainly driven by an increase in the percentage of respondents who reported improved liquidity conditions, from 22.21% in Q4 2021 to 24.63% in Q1 2022," BI wrote in its survey report.

On the other hand, BI found that companies' ability to generate profits slightly decreased in Q1 2022. This is reflected in the NB of profitability at 14.68%, slightly lower than the 14.78% NB in the previous quarter.

The percentage of respondents who reported good profitability conditions increased from 22.66% in Q4 2021 to 24.66% in Q1 2022.

Meanwhile, the percentage of respondents who reported poor profitability also increased, from 7.87% to 9.99% in the same period.

Respondents also assessed that access to bank credit in Q1 2022 was easier compared to the previous quarter.

The NB for credit access was recorded at 1.35%, higher than the 0.79% NB in Q4 2021. The percentage of respondents who reported easy access to credit was recorded at 7.23%, up from 5.8% in the previous quarter.
