Indonesia's Top 5 Largest Foreign Investors in Q2 2022

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) realization in the second quarter of 2022 contributed significantly. It reached Rp163.2 trillion, or 54% of Indonesia's total investment realization of Rp302.2 trillion.

This is based on data reported by the Investment Minister/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Bahlil Lahadalia, in a virtual press conference on Wednesday, July 20, 2022.

According to BKPM data, Singapore remained the largest contributor to FDI in the second quarter of 2022, with a value of US$3.1 billion.

China was in second place with FDI realization of US$2.3 billion. Following were Hong Kong with US$1.4 billion, Japan with US$0.9 billion, and the United States with US$0.8 billion.

According to Bahlil, in the second quarter of 2022, Japan surpassed South Korea in FDI realization. Furthermore, FDI realization from the United States consistently ranked among the top five.

"The United States consistently ranks in the top five; initially, it was somewhat difficult. But this is related to their industries in Freeport smelting, and Air Products has started operating in East Kalimantan and South Sumatra," he said.
