Civil Servant Salaries Increase, Government Employee Spending Soars 30.28% in May 2019

The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) recorded central government spending reaching Rp 530.81 trillion by the end of May 2019. This figure increased by 15.9% compared to the previous period, which amounted to Rp 458.01 trillion. This increase was due to a 5% increase in Civil Servant (PNS) salaries in April 2019.

In addition, the government also paid the Religious Holiday Allowance (THR) during Idul Fitri 2019. These factors caused employee spending growth to surge by 30.28% (yoy) to Rp 99.62 trillion in May 2019. In May 2018, employee spending growth was only 6.31% (yoy) with a realization of Rp 76.47 trillion.

Central government spending for Ministries/Agencies (K/L) was recorded at Rp 288.23 trillion, growing by 24.52% (yoy). This growth increased compared to May 2018, which was 19.93% (yoy) with a realization reaching Rp 231.47 trillion. Meanwhile, non-K/L spending reached Rp 242.58 trillion with growth of 7.09% (yoy).
