To accelerate the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem, the Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin), has issued a policy providing incentives or subsidies for the purchase of electric motorcycles of Rp7 million per unit.
This is stipulated in the Minister of Industry Regulation Number 6 of 2023 concerning Guidelines for Providing Government Assistance for the Purchase of Battery-Based Two-Wheeled Electric Vehicles, which was ratified on March 20, 2023.
The requirements for receiving assistance from this program will be further simplified.
Previously, electric motorcycle subsidies were only given to recipients of KUR (People's Business Credit), recipients of Bantuan Produktif Usaha Mikro (BUPM) (Productive Assistance for Micro Businesses), recipients of wage subsidy assistance (BSU), and recipients of electricity subsidies up to <900 VA.
But now, the government is preparing a new scheme so that every Indonesian Identity Card (KTP) holder is entitled to buy one subsidized electric motorcycle.
"Regarding the program we have provided, government assistance, we are evaluating it. So, anything related to the requirements previously set, we will abolish them," said Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang, quoting Detik.com, Monday (31/7/2023).
"So, those who receive government assistance for the purchase of two-wheeled vehicles based on NIK or KTP are only allowed to buy one electric motorcycle," he continued.
Currently, there are 25 electric motorcycles from various brands registered in the Information System for Assistance in the Purchase of Two-Wheeled Electric Vehicles (SISAPIRa), and can be purchased by the public with a discount of Rp7 million.
The subsidized price of these electric motorcycles ranges from Rp5 million to the most expensive at Rp40 million.
