The COVID-19 pandemic situation in Indonesia is increasingly under control. Therefore, the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) is now focusing its budget on improving health services.
"Our priorities have shifted; previously focused on pandemic handling, we are now back to focusing on improving the quality of public health services," said Health Minister Budi G. Sadikin in his press release on the Sehat Negeriku website (1/12/2022).
In the 2023 State Budget (APBN), Kemenkes received an allocation of Rp 85.5 trillion, significantly less than the Rp 178.7 trillion in 2022.
Minister Budi stated that his ministry's budget has been shrinking over the past three years. However, he claims this reduction does not diminish Kemenkes' services to the public.
In 2023, Kemenkes will focus its budget on the following:
* Health Financing: Rp 46.6 trillion
* Referral Services: Rp 18.4 trillion
* Routine Activities & Management Support: Rp 8.9 trillion
* Primary Services: Rp 5.9 trillion
* Health Human Resources: Rp 3.8 trillion
* Health Resilience System: Rp 1.4 trillion
* Health Technology: Rp 500 billion
Budi explained that this year's Kemenkes budget is divided into six priorities. First, promotive and preventive programs, such as the revitalization of community health centers (puskesmas) and integrated service posts (posyandu).
Second, restructuring hospitals throughout Indonesia through synergy with local governments and other institutions with hospital services, such as the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri).
Third, building a health resilience system through collaboration with the Ministry of Industry to develop the health industry.
Fourth, developing sufficient health human resources (HR), especially doctors and specialist doctors.
Fifth, improving the health financing system to guarantee the availability, sufficiency, and sustainability of financing with equitable allocation, including for recipients of National Health Insurance (JKN) contribution assistance (PBI).
Sixth, making future health programs based on biotechnology, information technology, artificial intelligence, and new health technologies.
