The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) reports that the majority of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) sectors from the production side recorded growth in Q1 2022.

The fastest growth was experienced by the transportation and warehousing sector, which grew by 15.79% (year-on-year/yoy) in Q1 2022. This sector contributed 4.62% to the GDP.

Next, the other services sector grew by 8.24% (yoy) with a contribution to GDP of 1.88%.

This was followed by the information and communication sector, which grew by 7.14% (yoy) with a contribution to GDP of 4.34% in the same period.

The manufacturing industry sector managed to grow by 5.07% (yoy) and became the largest contributor to GDP, namely 19.9% in Q1 2022.

The next largest contributors, namely the trade and agriculture sectors, grew by 5.71% (yoy) and 1.16% (yoy) respectively, with contributions to GDP in the range of 12-13%.

Meanwhile, the government administration and education services sectors experienced contractions of 1.45% (yoy) and 1.7% (yoy) respectively in the first quarter.

"Sectors related to public mobility contributed the most to Q1 2022 GDP growth," said Bank Mandiri economist Faisal Rachman in his analysis released on Monday (9/5/2022).
