Bondowoso Regency's 2023 current price Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) reached Rp24.77 trillion. This represents a 4.62% increase compared to the previous year's Rp22.9 trillion.
Compared to the COVID-19 pandemic year of 2020, the region's economic growth is significantly higher. At the end of 2020, post-COVID growth recorded a decrease of 1.36%.
According to BPS (Statistics Indonesia) publications, with a total population of 805,910, the GRDP per capita in the region is recorded at Rp31,430,000/capita/year. Nationally, this ranks 390th.
Of the 17 sectors driving the region's economy, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries are the leading sectors.
Agriculture, forestry, and fisheries in Bondowoso Regency are the mainstay sectors, contributing the largest share to the 2023 GRDP with a value of Rp6.91 trillion. This represents a 2.06% increase compared to the previous year's Rp6.49 trillion.
Following this, the manufacturing industry grew by 5.02% to Rp6.3 trillion, and the wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector came in third with a GRDP of Rp3.88 trillion (6.42%).
The final sector in the top five is information and communication, with a GRDP of Rp1.34 trillion. This sector recorded a growth of 7.31% compared to the previous year's figure of Rp1.24 trillion.
