New Record: Industrial Investment Realization Reaches Rp593 Trillion in 2023

Data from the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), processed by the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin), shows that industrial sector investment realization reached Rp596.3 trillion in 2023.

"This is a significant increase of 19.8%," said Eko SA Cahyanto, Director General of Resilience, Regional Development, and International Industrial Access at Kemenperin, in a virtual press conference on Wednesday (January 31, 2024).

He stated that the industrial sector was the largest recipient of investment in Indonesia, contributing 42% of the total national investment realization of Rp1,418.9 trillion last year.

This achievement also absorbed 19.34 million workers in the industrial sector, a 0.89% increase year-on-year (YoY). Furthermore, it was accompanied by a 7.3% YoY increase in wages.

Industrial sector investment realization fluctuated throughout 2017-2023. Although there was a decline in 2018-2019, investment realization rose to Rp272.9 trillion in 2020, coinciding with the global spread of the Covid-19 virus. Afterward, investment values tended to increase, as shown in the graph.

This upward trend has continued for the past three years, reaching its highest value last year.
