Residents of South Tapanuli Regency spend Rp67.35 per capita per week on cooking oil and other coconut products.

The average expenditure per capita per week for purchasing oil and other coconut products in South Tapanuli Regency in 2023 was Rp67.35. This figure surged compared to the previous year's expenditure, which was recorded at Rp0.88 per capita per week.

Average per capita expenditure is the cost incurred for the consumption of all household members over a month, including purchases, gifts, and self-produced goods, divided by the number of household members. Household consumption is categorized into food and non-food consumption, regardless of the origin of the goods, and is limited to household needs only, excluding consumption/expenditure for business purposes or given to others.

Expenditure on food consumption is calculated weekly, while non-food consumption is calculated monthly and for the past 12 months. Both food and non-food consumption are then converted into average monthly expenditure. The average per capita consumption/expenditure figures presented in BPS publications are obtained by dividing the total consumption of all households (both consuming food and non-food) by the total population.

The four largest expenditure items for oil and coconut products in South Tapanuli Regency, in descending order, are sunflower oil (Rp3,930.98 per capita per week), coconut (excluding instant coconut milk) (Rp1,796.91 per capita per week), other oils and coconuts (Rp67.35 per capita per week), and the lowest expenditure is for coconut oil (Rp30.27 per capita per week).

Based on region, the highest expenditure for purchasing other oils and coconuts was in Dogiyai Regency, and the lowest was in Barru Regency. South Tapanuli Regency ranked 119th in terms of expenditure for purchasing other oils and coconuts. Meanwhile, the national average per capita expenditure for purchasing other oils and coconuts is Rp236 per capita per week.
