The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) notes that state spending in the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) has been increasing since 2019.
State spending in 2019 was recorded at Rp2,309.3 trillion. This comprised central government spending (BPP) of Rp1,496.3 trillion and transfers to regions (TKD) of Rp813 trillion.
By 2022, state spending reached Rp3,096.2 trillion. Kemenkeu states that this figure grew by an average of 10.3% from 2019. This comprised BPP of Rp2,280 trillion and TKD of Rp816.2 trillion.
In the 2023 outlook, state spending is projected at Rp3,123.6 trillion, a 0.9% increase from 2022. This comprises BPP of Rp2,298.2 trillion and TKD of Rp825.4 trillion.
For the 2024 State Budget (RAPBN), the government has allocated a total state spending of Rp3,304.1 trillion, a 5.8% increase from the 2023 outlook. This comprises BPP of Rp2,446.5 trillion and TKD of Rp857.6 trillion.
In the 2024 Financial Note, Kemenkeu writes that 2024 is the final year of the implementation of the 2020-2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).
Therefore, state spending will be focused on achieving national priority targets and goals, as well as completing major projects and/or National Strategic Projects (PSN).
"State spending in 2024 will be directed towards strengthening the quality of spending to produce optimal outputs/outcomes in accelerating inclusive and sustainable economic transformation," writes Kemenkeu.
