The energy sector was a priority for development during the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla administration. This is evident from the substantial financing needs of the energy sector within the National Strategic Projects (NSP), amounting to Rp 1,242 trillion out of a total of Rp 4,197 trillion. This figure surpasses the investment value in other sectors.
According to the Committee for Acceleration of Priority Infrastructure Provision (KPPIP), the energy sector comprises 12 strategic projects. These include the construction of the Bontang oil refinery, estimated to require Rp 197.5 trillion, and the Tuban oil refinery expansion, requiring Rp 199 trillion. Furthermore, upgrading existing refineries in Central Java, West Java, Riau, and South Sumatra requires Rp 246 trillion.
Meanwhile, the electricity sector requires Rp 1,035 trillion in investment for power plant and transmission construction. The road sector includes 74 projects nationwide with an investment of Rp 684 trillion, the railway sector has 23 projects requiring Rp 613 trillion, and the development of 30 regional projects is valued at Rp 290 trillion.
