KIC: Easy to Sell, a Primary Factor for People Choosing Investments

Currently, Indonesian public awareness of investing is increasing. According to research by the Katadata Insight Center (KIC) in collaboration with Stockbit, the majority of people choose investments due to the ease of resale or easy buyback. This is reflected in the choices of 51.2% of respondents.

Besides ease of sale, another major factor influencing people's investment choices is security, with a percentage of 47.9%. Then, 47.3% of respondents stated they chose investments because of high returns (47.3%).

Furthermore, 45% of respondents said that people choose investments based on their rapid value appreciation. Another 43.1% said that the influence on their investment choice was protection by the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

Other factors considered in investment selection include minimal risk (40.7%), understanding investment details (38.7%), stable price movements (37.2%), and the ability to store it physically (24.9%). Additionally, other factors are lower prices (18.4%), environmental friendliness (7.5%), following friends/relatives who had already purchased (5.9%), and purchase by famous figures (2.8%).

For information, this research was conducted on 1,939 respondents aged 15 and above who have investments. This survey, conducted across 33 provinces from September 6-12, 2021, used a non-probability sampling method with a margin of error of ± 2.23%.
