Elon Musk and Bernard Arnault Top the List of World's Richest People at the Start of 2024

Based on data from *Forbes Real Time Billionaires*, Bernard Arnault became the world's richest person as of January 29, 2024.

The owner of the luxury fashion company LVMH ousted Elon Musk from the top spot.

According to *Forbes*, Bernard Arnault and his family's net worth reached US$207.6 billion, or approximately Rp3,285 trillion (assuming Rp15,827 per US$).

Arnault's wealth surged after LVMH shares rose 16% on Friday (January 26, 2024). Conversely, Tesla shares plummeted 14% during the same period.

According to Companies Market Cap, LVMH's market capitalization remained below Tesla's, at US$582.53 billion as of Monday (January 29, 2024). Tesla had a market value of US$418.93 billion.

*Forbes* noted that in 2021, LVMH successfully acquired Tiffany & Co. for nearly US$16 billion, considered the largest luxury brand acquisition in history.

Furthermore, Arnault's holding company, Agache, also supports a venture capital firm called Aglaé Ventures, which has reportedly invested in Netflix and ByteDance.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk, now ranked second, has a net worth of US$204.7 billion, or Rp3,239 trillion.

Elon Musk is known to own six companies, including the electric car manufacturer Tesla, rocket producer SpaceX, and the startup Boring Company.
