Liga 1 Week 16 Standings: Borneo FC Firmly at the Top, RANS Enters Top 3

A fierce duel between Persija Jakarta and RANS Nusantara FC concluded the BRI Liga 1 2023/2024 matchday 16 on Sunday evening (22/10/2023) WIB. The match ended dramatically with a final score of 1-2.

Persija succumbed to RANS FC at the Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi. The defeat for the "Macan Kemayoran" (Tiger of Mayoran) club was marked by controversy surrounding a Witan Sulaeman goal that was disallowed by the referee, even though the ball had clearly crossed the goal line.

RANS FC's winning goals were scored by Evandro Brandao in the 11th minute and Angelo Meneses in the 56th minute. Persija only managed one legitimate goal, a header by Muhammad Ferrari in the 58th minute.

Thanks to this victory, RANS FC climbed to third place in the BRI Liga 1 standings. Eduardo Almeida's team successfully displaced Persib Bandung from the top three.
