Current Food Prices in West Sumatra: Sugar and Salt Prices Rise

The prices of several food commodities in West Sumatra today are observed to have increased compared to yesterday.

Based on the national food agency (Bapanas) food price panel data on Saturday (17/8/2024) at 12:48 WIB, out of 21 commodities, 10 commodities increased and 10 commodities decreased in price.

Commodities that increased in price include farmer-level corn, pure beef, medium rice, fine iodized salt, and milkfish.

Meanwhile, the prices of several commodities such as simple packaged cooking oil, dry soybean (import), bulk cooking oil, red chili peppers, and shallots decreased compared to yesterday's prices.

Milkfish prices increased the most, by Rp2,740 (8.46%) to Rp35,140 per kg. Red chili pepper prices decreased the most sharply, by Rp1,910 (4.05%) to Rp45,270 per kg.

6. Skipjack Tuna: Rp37,960 per kg (down 0.24%)
7. Milkfish: Rp35,140 per kg (up 8.46%)
8. Broiler Chicken: Rp34,940 per kg (up 3.46%)
9. Broiler Chicken Eggs: Rp28,800 per kg (down 0.45%)
10. Shallots: Rp21,300 per kg (down 1.34%)
11. Granulated Sugar: Rp18,020 per kg (up 0.11%)
