Cianjur Population Reaches 2.44 Million, This is the Sub-district with the Largest Population

Based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the population of Cianjur Regency was 2.44 million in 2021. This comprised 1.25 million males and 1.19 million females.

Cianjur District had the largest population, at 175.02 million in 2021. This was followed by Karangtengah District with 162.55 million, and Cibeber District with 132.27 thousand.

Campakamulya District had the smallest population, at only 23.51 thousand. This was followed by Leles District with 30.2 thousand and Cijati District with 33.68 thousand.

For information, Cugenang is one of the areas in Cianjur Regency most severely affected by the earthquake that occurred on November 21, 2022, at 1:21 PM WIB.

The earthquake, located at coordinates 6.84 degrees south latitude – 107.05 degrees east longitude and a depth of 11 km, with a magnitude of 5.6, devastated parts of Cianjur Regency.

Cugenang District was the hardest hit area by the M 5.6 earthquake last month, with an intensity reaching VII-VIII Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI). This was marked by the extensive damage to buildings, especially in Gasol and Sarampad Villages.

Other areas in Cianjur Regency that were significantly affected by the earthquake include Cianjur District, Warungkondang District, and Gekbrong District.

Cianjur Regency covers an area of 3,614.35 square kilometers and is administratively divided into 32 districts, comprising 354 villages and 6 urban villages.

The Cianjur earthquake resulted in 334 deaths. A total of 35,601 houses were damaged.
