Gorontalo Province's Average Years of Schooling Below National Average in 2021

Gorontalo Province's average years of schooling (AYS) significantly lags behind the national average. In 2021, the national average years of schooling for Indonesians reached 8.54 years. Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) reported that the AYS for residents aged 25 and over in Gorontalo Province reached 7.9 years in 2021.

This means that the average Gorontalo resident aged 25 and over has completed education up to the seventh grade. Nevertheless, this AYS increased by 1.05 years from the previous year, which was 6.85 years.

Looking at the regencies/cities, Gorontalo City has the highest AYS in Gorontalo Province at 10.37 years. This indicates that the average Gorontalo City resident aged 25 and over has completed education up to the tenth grade.

Bone Bolango Regency is next with an AYS of 8.32 years. Then, Gorontalo Regency and Pohuwato Regency have AYS of 7.3 years and 7.26 years, respectively.

The AYS in Gorontalo Utara Regency is 7.15 years. Meanwhile, Boalemo Regency has the lowest AYS in Gorontalo Province, at only 7 years, equivalent to the seventh grade.
