Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara erupted again on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at 04:28 WITA. In the last week, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 36 times.

According to eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the ash column height was observed to be approximately 500 meters above the peak or 2,084 meters above sea level.

The ash column was observed to be gray with thick intensity towards the west and northwest. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 7.4 millimeters and a duration of 50 seconds.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcanic activity report, the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is at Level III (Alert). Observations of seismic activity on March 16, 2025, from 18:00 to 23:59 WITA showed 5 eruption quakes with amplitudes of 11-29.6 millimeters and durations of 59-155 seconds.

Then, there were 6 puffing quakes with amplitudes of 2.9-11 millimeters and durations of 24-45 seconds, and 1 deep volcanic quake with an amplitude of 11 millimeters, s-p 1.1 seconds, and a duration of 12 seconds.

PVMBG advises people around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors/tourists not to carry out any activities within a 5-kilometer radius of the eruption center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and in the southwest-north-northeast sector up to 6 kilometers.

During 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 2,208 volcanic eruptions throughout Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (1,016 times), while Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted 189 times.
