Warning! Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki Erupts Again This Morning (Saturday, April 19, 2025)

Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara erupted again on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 09.09 WITA. In the last week, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 46 times.

According to eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the observed ash column height reached 800 meters above the peak (2,384 meters above sea level).

The ash column was observed to be gray with thick intensity towards the north and northeast. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 19.9 millimeters and a duration of 70 seconds.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is at Level III (Alert). Observations of seismic activity on April 19, 2025, from 00.00 to 06.00 WITA showed 11 eruption quakes with amplitudes of 8.1-44.4 millimeters and durations of 72-183 seconds.

Then, there were 6 tremor quakes with amplitudes of 2.2-4.4 millimeters and durations of 27-91 seconds, and 3 deep volcanic quakes with amplitudes of 2.2-7.4 millimeters, s-p 1.7-2.5 seconds, and durations of 10-18 seconds.

PVMBG advises people around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors/tourists not to carry out any activities within a 6-kilometer radius of the eruption center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki.

During 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 2,975 volcanic eruptions throughout Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (1,341 times), while Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted 296 times.
