Mount Dukono Erupts Again Tonight (Thursday, April 24, 2025)

Mount Dukono in North Maluku erupted again on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 11:47 PM WIT. In the last week, Mount Dukono has erupted 13 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the ash column was observed at approximately None meters above the peak (None meters above sea level).

The eruption was not visually observed. The eruption of Mount Dukono was still ongoing at the time of this report.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Dukono is at Level II (Alert). Seismic observations on April 24, 2025, from 00:00 to 23:59 WIT showed 242 eruption quakes with amplitudes of 6-34 millimeters and durations of 31.26-177.26 seconds.

Furthermore, there was 1 distant tectonic earthquake with an amplitude of 24 millimeters, an S-P time of 10.18 seconds, and a duration of 60.05 seconds, as well as 1 continuous tremor with an amplitude of 1-5 millimeters, dominant at 3 millimeters.

PVMBG advises the public around Mount Dukono and visitors/tourists not to conduct activities, climb, or approach the Malupang Warirang Crater within a 4-kilometer radius.

During 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 3,186 volcanic eruptions/eruptions throughout Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (1,394 eruptions), while Mount Dukono erupted 105 times.
