2020 Population Census: The Majority of Depok City's Population is of Working Age

A large working-age population in a region can be a crucial asset for development if its capabilities are maximized. Depok is one city with a majority of its population in the productive age group (15-64 years). This city on the outskirts of Jakarta has a higher birth rate than death rate.

The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) recorded 1.46 million people (70.81%) of Depok's population as being of working age. Meanwhile, 600,340 people (29.1%) are in the non-productive age group. This breaks down to 505,600 people (24.59%) in the non-productive age group (0-14 years) and 94,630 (4.6%) in the unproductive age group (65 years and older).

Depok's sex ratio is 101.9, meaning there are more males than females. For every 100 women, there are 101.9 men.

Spatially, Tapos is the sub-district with the largest population, reaching 263,400 people (12.81%) of Depok's total population. Cipayung, however, is the most densely populated sub-district, with a population density of 14,896 people per square kilometer.

Depok is one of the cities in West Java Province, bordering directly with DKI Jakarta. Depok covers an area of 200.29 square kilometers, divided into 11 sub-districts.
