West Java's Food and Non-Food Poverty Line Increases by 2.73 Percent (December 2023 Data)

The food and non-food poverty line in West Java in December 2023 increased by Rp. 13,044 per capita/month to Rp. 491,010 per capita/month compared to September 2022. Compared to September 2021, the food and non-food poverty line also increased from Rp. 433,040 per capita/month.

However, this increase in the food and non-food poverty line did not impact the percentage of the poor population, which instead decreased.

The poverty rate in West Java in March 2023 decreased to 7.62 percent compared to September 2022. Compared to March 2022, the poverty rate also decreased from 8.06 percent.

Based on region, the number of poor people decreased by 3.89 million in March 2023 compared to September 2022 and was lower than in September 2021. The number of poor people in urban areas decreased by 0.11 million to 2.91 million in March 2023. The number of poor people in rural areas was recorded at 974,360.

This poverty condition in West Java is calculated based on the food and non-food poverty line, recorded at Rp. 452,580 per capita/month. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), this latest poverty line is detailed as Rp. 367,040 per capita/month for food needs and Rp. 128,190 per capita/month for non-food needs.

The poverty line for rural areas is Rp. 491,010 per capita/month, with details of Rp. 371,460 per capita/month for food and Rp. 130,420 per capita/month for non-food. Meanwhile, the poverty line in urban areas is Rp. 496,200 per capita/month, detailed as Rp. 365,780 per capita/month for food and Rp. 130,420 per capita/month for non-food.
