Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki Erupts Again Tonight (Tuesday, October 22, 2024)

Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara erupted again on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 11:15 PM WITA. In the last week, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 8 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the eruption was not visually observed. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 5.9 millimeters and a duration of 206 seconds.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is at Level III (Alert). Observations of seismic activity on October 22, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 11:59 PM WITA showed 1 eruption earthquake with an amplitude of 5.9 millimeters and a duration of 206 seconds.

Furthermore, there was 1 puffing earthquake with an amplitude of 5.1 millimeters and a duration of 28 seconds, and 2 harmonic tremors with amplitudes of 2.9-4.4 millimeters and durations of 224-299 seconds.

PVMBG advises the public around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors/tourists not to conduct any activities within a 3-kilometer radius of the eruption center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and Mount Lewotobi Perempuan, and 4 kilometers in the northeast sector and 5 kilometers in the northeast sector from the eruption center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki.
