2019 Anti-Corruption Perception Index Declined

Indonesia's Anti-Corruption Behavior Index (IPAK) in 2019 was 3.7 on a scale of 0-5. This figure is higher than the 2018 IPAK of 3.66. The higher the index (closer to 5), the higher the anti-corruption behavior in society.

Although the IPAK generally improved, one dimension showed a decline. The anti-corruption perception dimension in 2019 was at level 3.8, lower than the previous year's 3.86. The decline in the anti-corruption perception dimension was influenced by several factors. First, the public considers it acceptable to give money or goods to community figures when a family holds a celebration. As a result, the dimension score decreased from 41.36 in 2018 to 40.93 in 2019.

Second, the public considers it acceptable for parents to bring their children to election campaigns to earn more money, resulting in a score decrease from 12.61 in 2018 to 12.88 in 2019. Meanwhile, the anti-corruption experience dimension improved, with an index of 3.65 in 2019 from 3.57 in 2018.
