Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in Pati Decreases by 20.85% in the Last Year

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Pati Regency, Central Java, reached 7.78% in 2023.

This figure is down 2.05% from the previous year's 9.83%, and down 2.63% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in Pati Regency is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needs for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the percentage of residents in Pati Regency who consume food but whose energy needs are unmet is less than 7.78% of the total population.

Compared to 34 other regencies/cities in Central Java Province, Pati Regency ranks 7th in terms of PoU. The area with the lowest PoU (top ranking) is Salatiga City (5.83%), and the highest (bottom ranking) is Purworejo Regency (14.71%).
