Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in Simeulue Decreases by 4.89% in the Last Year

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Simeulue Regency, Aceh reached 10.91% in 2023.

This figure is down 4.89% from the previous year's 15.8%, and down 3.21% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in Simeulue Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needs for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the population in Simeulue Regency who consume food but lack sufficient energy needs does not reach 10.91% of the total population.
