Based on the forest and land fire monitoring system SiPongi from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring over the past 24 hours detected 991 hotspots across Indonesia. This figure represents an increase of 130 hotspots compared to the previous monitoring period.

Data was obtained from Terra/Aqua, SNPP and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Tuesday (14/7/2026) at 11:34 WIB. Of the 991 detected hotspots: 54 had high confidence rating, 902 medium confidence, and 35 low confidence.

Hotspot confidence is graded on 3 scales: low (0-29), medium (30-79), high (80-100). Higher hotspot confidence indicates greater probability of active forest or land fire occurrence in the location.

Most hotspots were recorded in East Kalimantan (169 points), followed by West Kalimantan (135 points) and East Nusa Tenggara (87 points).

Further detections: South Papua 70, South Kalimantan 64, Central Kalimantan 52, Maluku 44 hotspots respectively.

A hotspot is a coordinate point where surface temperature is elevated relative to surrounding areas; this count does not directly equal number of fire incidents.

However, clustered high hotspot counts reliably indicate ongoing forest/land fires. Satellite detected hotspots remain the most effective method for large-area wildfire monitoring.
