Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring over the past 24 hours recorded 3,719 hotspots detected in Indonesia. This figure increased by 846 points compared to the previous monitoring period.

Data was obtained from Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed at 11:34 WIB on Monday (3/8/2026). Of the total detected hotspots: 168 have high confidence level, 3399 medium confidence, and 152 low confidence.

Hotspot confidence is classified into 3 tiers: low (0-29), medium (30-79), high (80-100). Higher hotspot confidence indicates greater probability of active forest or land fires in the area.

The highest hotspot count was recorded in West Kalimantan with 1335 points, followed by East Kalimantan (308 points), East Nusa Tenggara (212 points).

Additional detections: 198 hotspots in South Kalimantan, 187 in South Sumatra, 156 in Central Kalimantan, and 129 in Central Sulawesi.

Hotspots are coordinate points showing above-average surface temperature; this does not directly equal the count of fire incidents.

However, concentrated or high-volume hotspot clusters indicate active fire events. Satellite-detected hotspot data remains the most effective method for large-scale forest fire monitoring.
