Food Insecurity Prevalence in Empat Lawang Reaches 12.35% in 2023

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Empat Lawang Regency, South Sumatra, was 12.35% in 2023.

This figure is up 0.86% from the previous year's 11.49%, while it has decreased by 1.06% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in Empat Lawang Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needs for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.
