Data from the Indonesian National Criminal Information Center (Pusiknas) of the Indonesian National Police recorded 2,053 gambling cases handled by the police in Indonesia from January to August 26, 2025.

Based on provincial-level work units, East Java Police (Polda Jawa Timur) handled the most gambling cases, with 830 cases.

East Java Police was followed by Central Java Police (Polda Jawa Tengah) and North Sumatra Police (Polda Sumatera Utara), each with over 200 cases.

The following are the top 5 Indonesian police regions with the highest number of gambling cases handled from January to August 26, 2025:

East Java Police: 830 cases
Central Java Police: 237 cases
North Sumatra Police: 211 cases
Aceh Police: 148 cases
West Sumatra Police: 90 cases

"A total of 3,665 individuals were reported to be involved in gambling cases across Indonesia," stated Pusiknas Polri, Jakarta, on Friday (August 29, 2025).

According to Pusiknas Polri, the majority of those reported in gambling cases were private sector employees, totaling 1,798 individuals.

This was followed by farmers (428 individuals), laborers (326 individuals), students (256 individuals), and housewives (80 individuals).

"This phenomenon is not limited to office workers. Hundreds of students were also involved, totaling 256 individuals. There were even 80 housewives or domestic helpers found to be involved in gambling practices," said Pusiknas Polri.
