According to the Indonesian National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan), 20,958 cases of sexual violence were recorded in Indonesia in 2024.
Many cases occurred in the online sphere, categorized as Online Gender-Based Violence (KBGO) with sexual connotations, and Electronic-Based Sexual Violence (KSBE).
Komnas Perempuan defines KBGO as gender-based violence committed, supported, or exacerbated in part or in whole by the use of information and communication technology (ICT), resulting in, or potentially resulting in, physical, sexual, or psychological suffering for female victims.
KSBE refers to sexual violence committed through information and electronic media.
In 2024, the number of cases of KBGO with sexual connotations and KSBE exceeded other types of cases.
The following details the number of sexual violence cases in Indonesia in 2024 by type:
* Online Gender-Based Violence (KBGO) with sexual connotations: 1,920 cases

"There are still a number of reports of sexual violence cases that cannot be categorized into the types of sexual violence in the UU TPKS, such as forced abortion, abortion, and Online Gender-Based Violence (KBGO) with sexual connotations," said Komnas Perempuan in its 2024 Annual Report.
"Sexual harassment, both non-physical and physical, totaled 798 cases, significantly higher than rape cases," it continued.
