States Likely to Possess Nuclear Weapons in 10 Years

According to the Atlantic Council's *The Global Foresight 2025 Survey*, the global community anticipates Russia as the actor most likely to use nuclear weapons within the next 10 years.

Besides Russia, North Korea, terrorist groups, Israel, and China also rank among the top five actors predicted to use nuclear weapons in the next decade.

The following actors are predicted by the global community to use nuclear weapons in the next 10 years:

• Russia: 25.9%
• North Korea: 24.2%
• Terrorist groups: 18.8%
• Israel: 12.3%
• China: 6.3%
• United States: 5.1%
• Pakistan: 3.1%
• India: 1.7%
• Other: 4.8%
• Nuclear weapons won't be used: 51.6%

Based on the survey, although the global community predicts Russia as the primary actor to use nuclear weapons in the next 10 years, the majority believe nuclear weapons will not be used.

The Atlantic Council conducted *The Global Foresight 2025 Survey* from November 15 to December 2, 2024. A total of 351 respondents from over 50 countries participated in this survey.

Respondents were employees from private companies, non-profit organizations, academia, independent consultants, government, and multilateral institutions.

Previously, regarding nuclear weapons, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, stated that several countries are prepared to supply nuclear weapons to Iran following recent US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

These attacks followed a conflict that erupted between Israel and Iran. Currently, a ceasefire agreement has been reached between the two countries.
